US auto market is performing well at present. Many brands are also introducing their new models in diesel version into the market. In the US market the new vehicle sales performance is getting positive growth rate. In the US auto market diesel vehicles are getting more popular due to its fuel efficiency performances. The domestic sales of diesel vehicles in the US market has showed impressive growth in the month of September 2011 with 37.0% which is more than the 2010 performance.

According to the diesel technology forum experts. the diesel auto sales for the August 2011 is very impressive with 20.4% than the last year and it is strongly continuing the same performance for the further periods. This continuous demand is indicating the people’s interest on diesel vehicles.

Toyota is Loosing its No.1 Place in the Auto Market

Toyota motors has got the negative sales growth (-12.7 %) for the August 2011. Toyota is incurring these losses in the sales due to the earth quake in Japan. Japan earth quake has hit more than 650 Toyota dealers, many other manufacturing brands are also distracted by the Japan earth quake.

World’s largest car manufacturing company Toyota has said that it has produced 129,491 units in the March 2011 and sales growth has fell down by 62.7 percent. Toyota is now losing its top auto- production rank, it stood in the first place since 2008. Toyota sold only 8.42 million units for the year 2010 whereas, GM has sold 8.39 million units for the same period.

Toyota has sold 6.5 million units for 2011, the GM sold 8 million units and Volkswagen sold 7 million units for this year. The research reports said Toyota stands in the third position for this year.

According to the Auto data corporation, Toyota lost their growth percentage up to 7.8%, GM, Ford, Toyota, Chrysler are increasing their sales growth. Auto data corporation said that Toyota is following GM in US auto market.

Hybrid Car Sales in US Fall Down in August 2011

One of the major challenges for the hybrid cars is fuel prices. If there is a drop in fuel price, then the sales of hybrid cars are on rise and if there is an increase in fuel price then the car sales are decreasing. Hence, with the recent increase in the fuel price the sales of hybrid cars for the first half of the 2011 decreased up to 12% when compared to the same period in the last year.

The hybrid car sales for the year 2010 showed 2.9% decrease from than the 2009 sales. According to Ward’s automotive group report, the total car sales is 5.6 million units and among those sales the hybrid car sales is 2,36,300 which is just 4% of total car sales.

Total car sales in US for first half of 2011 is 21,177 vehicles, which is 1.98% of the total car sales. Sales of hybrid cars for August month is 1,664 units which is 0.16% of the total car sales in August.

According to the Polk report, the reason for negative sales growth for hybrid cars is availability of more fuel efficiency cars in the market. Toyota and Honda are the top most brands in hybrid car segments, but even these brands are also getting in to troubles.

US Diesel Vehicle Sales Increase by 38.5% in 2011

In US auto market, diesel vehicles performance is good. Diesel vehicles recorded their 38.5% sales growth compared to last year. Very few models have shined in diesel sector, Volkswagen Jetta TDI and Golf TDI. These models have escaped from the earth quake supply distractions.

Total sales of diesel sedans for July 2011 is 56,717 vehicles, Jetta sedan recorded 5,206 vehicle sales. The Golf model recorded 966 units for July month and took second place among the diesel vehicles. BMW X5 took the third place with 562 units sale in July month. Crippled hybrid vehicles sales in US market were 8,653 units for July 2011, it is 0.82% of total market sales.

Volkswagen introduced Jetta to US one year back. Its performance is good in US market. US consumers are getting attracted to diesel vehicles due increasing fuel rates. Diesel vehicles come with good fuel economy and hence have good demand in the US market. Many motor manufacturers are planning to come into the US market with their diesel model vehicles.

High Sales of Automobiles in the Month of July

All the companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Ford and General Motors sales increased. Apart from the models and the launches, performance of the manufacturers has also increased which accounted for the growth of sales in the month of July.

When compared with the same period i.e., in the month of July, 29.18% hike in the sales was observed by maruti suzuki which is equivalent to 2,150 (1-lakh) units. Similarly, the sales of the Tata Motors increased and the sales of passenger vehicles was 27,864 units which also is higher when compared with the other records. Along with Maruti suzuki and Tata motors, the sales of Hyundai Motor India also grew up to 10.7 % during the month of July.

Ford, the U.S based company sales in India, also increased by four times when compared to the sales of same period last year. Along with the above companies, different companies like General Motors and Toyota Kirlsoskar motors also reported regarding the hike in the sales during the month of July.
When we consider the bike segment, Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto are also enjoying the sales growth.

Russia Launches ‘Cash-For-Clunkers’

Russia introduced a cash-for-clunkers program giving support to trade drivers to sell old cars and buy new ones to encourage a domestic market which is badly affected by the global economic crisis.

Under the experimental program, the government will provide discounts of 50,000 rubles (S$2,350) to those who desires to sell a car which is more than 10 years old in exchange for a new car manufactured in Russia.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that government had assigned 11.5 billion rubles for the program, which is estimated to help Russians pay for 200,000 new cars.

Mr Putin recommended Russians to make the highest of the government help, and also said that the replacement of old vehicles will make the air clear and can save thousands of lives which traffic accidents insist today.

The government program is intended to help the country’s flagship carmaker Avtovaz to encourage its flagging sales, but foreign carmakers assembling vehicles in Russia, including Ford, Renault and Volkswagen, could also benefit.

The economic retardation generated an abnormal crisis in Russia’s crashing auto industry as consumers compressed their belts. Russia car sales descended by 56 per cent last year to 1.4 million vehicles, as per report created by PricewaterhouseCoopers which is released in January.

Yuejin Motor Adds Holding In SAIC Motor To 5.5%

The Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission certified Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (Group) will hand over 40.3066 million shares of SAIC Motor Corporation (SHSE: 600104) to Yuejin Motor (Group) Corp. for free. Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and Yuejin Motor (Group) Corp. confirmed their share transfer agreement on April 28 last year.

SAIC Motor sustains its total capital stock above 6.55 billion shares at the time of integration of the deal. Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and Yuejin Motor (Group) Corp. maintains 5.13 billion shares and 360.31 million shares, computing for 78.28 percent and 5.50 percent of the total capital stock individually.

According to their partnership agreement, Shanghai Automotive Industry will undertake the auto business of Yuejin Motor. SAIC Motor will be buying the total vehicle and part assets of Yuejin Motor, and the later one will own 320 million shares in earlier one. Yuejin Motor bought the 320 million shares in December 2008 and the share transfer increased its holding in SAIC Motor from 4.88 percent to 5.50 percent.
