Video Game Market Lack Of Hot New Titles

This is the break for the alleged recession-proof industry – video games. All fellow other industries can now stop growing jealous against the video game industry – at least for now.

The new US video game sales numbers for the month of March, have proved that Video game industry is not recession-proof. The economy crisis can affect it; and even the video games can be included in the cutbacks list of the households.

According to the numbers from NPD group, US videogames fell 17 percent in March. Wait a second; did we actually had any fresh stuff to buy from the industry? If we think of it a little bit, the answer will be negative. Video game industry didn’t sound great in the last month. I didn’t hear of any super hit game titles.

So, the problem is with the industry and not the customers. The industry is in boom, and people in the industry are not making good use of it.

And what we can do? I don’t want to buy another copy of Resident Evil 5 or Halo wars. I already bought them and they are fine.

IBM To Slash 5000 Jobs

There is another massive job cut to come from the giant player of the IT industry. IBM announced to cut around 5000 jobs and just from US.

This would probably increase the unemployment rate to a certain extent, as the number is big this time. The shares of IBM are running a little slower than normal, with the news.

The job cuts will be mainly in the global services section. Though the job cuts are not appreciable, the IBM has no other choice in order to reduce its costs amid bad economy as well as bad business.

There are some other news that the job cuts are going to increase to 10,000. No news from IBM yet on the number of job cuts or specific reasons for the job cuts.

I hope this doesn’t encourage some other company to announce layoffs in their organization.

Discovery Heads Back To Home

Discovery has completed its mission successfully and heading back home. Guess what it is bringing back from space! An amazing picture of the space station with its new wings attached. It is not a fiction or a computer graphics. A true thing – hanging at an altitude of 240 miles – above in the sky.

It is also bringing some by-product samples of the astronauts there to conduct experiments here. You may think it as otherwise, but it is very valuable information for the scientists working on living organism behaviors in space.

The Discovery crew gifted our space station with new solar wings, a starboard segment, and a recycling system, which converts urine to drinking water again.

It was Discovery’s 36th successful mission. Its first one was on 1984. It has another mission on August 6th this year.

I can’t imagine myself in the position of astronauts biding goodbye to fellow human beings. They will have to wait for some more time until a next team of crew is coming to them along with some tourists.

Cuts In Adult Literacy Programs Worry Immigrants

Do you think all the people who enter into the borders of US do speak English compulsorily? If you think so, then you are not aware of our immigrant policies or stats.

Many adults immigrate to US without even the basic knowledge of English. But we have standard adult literacy programs, which are helping these people to learn English, and comply with our living styles and communication standards.

But suddenly, the state governments are planning to cut these programs as they are in lack of funds. The New York State budget proposed to cut allocated budget on three English education component programs from $13 million down to $8.6 million. A 33 percent slash in the budget.

Immigrants are worried that they will be deprived off their English learning classes. But do you think they can actually do something about it? I guess they have to donate to the state treasury themselves.

Kids into Unnecessary Vitamin Intakes

The concept of external vitamin supplements has been introduced to deal with children whose mothers fail to make them eat required amount of food everyday.

But these days’ children seem to pop them in like some candies; though there it is not required for them. According to recent survey, about one-third of US teens and kids take vitamins even though there is no actual requirement for it. They are healthy and active but they just pop them in – may be in hope of extremely well health.

But the children with poor health and bad eating habits, who could probably benefit from taking these vitamins, are not taking them.

Doesn’t the news seem weird?

However, the annual market of these vitamins is a $2 billion industry. These vitamins supplements which we talked about till now aren’t cheap either. You will have to spend around $10 to $12 for bottle of multi-vitamin tablets.

Pirates Drown With Ransom: Body of One Retrieved With Money

Poor pirates! They couldn’t enjoy for what they strived for.

They didn’t know that it would be their last day of work and last pay. They have drowned along with their share of money which never helped them to stop from drowning during all this time.

Actually, pity is not necessary. I don’t know if they have paid for their bad deeds, but they died very bad death.

The money with which they drowned was a big sum ($3 million). I don’t know if all of that money is going to come back ever or tarnished in the water?

People were already able to retrieve $153,000, from the body of one of those pirates. It washed ashore along with the ransom money, wrapped in a plastic bag in the body’s pocket. Let’s wish for rest of the money to come ashore too.

And over all this, there were 3 pirates along with the drowned; they were able to survive, but lost their share of money which was with the drowned.

Stock markets are taking investors by surprise each and every day, not with their hikes but their falls. Investors are so much annoyed that they are trying to figure out at least the end line for the fall.

They might not be aware that they are going to reveal history to the world before starting their usual pipeline works for natural gas. And imagine the astonishment and joy they felt when they discovered buried homes of around 7000 years ago.

The homes were estimated to be of 5th century BC, with all the advanced trends of Stone Age. They were said to be the remains of Neolithic-era which once prevailed in Greece.

They found that the houses were built of wood and unbaked bricks made of clay. The ruins seem to give a hint of the cause of destruction of all those homes as fire.

Archaeologists have recovered huge treasure of pottery of those times; as well as painted vases and their equipment and weapons.

It was used as small size cemetery after 4000 years after the abandonment of that place as a settlement. They excavated 15 graves of around fourth to first century BC from the ruins.

Jobless Claims Toll Hits 16-Year High

This recession has turned out to be worse than the situations during September 11 attacks. Especially the unemployment rate is increasing in the developed countries and the major concern with the government is in providing unemployment benefits in response to the increasing claims.

The jobless toll reached the 4 million mark after the 500,000 unemployment claims in the last week. Thus it jumped to 16-year worse, according to estimation from the labor department.

These times are compared to the previous recession during 1980s. The number of people claiming unemployment insurance is still increasing and the toll of 4 million jobless was last seen during early 1980s.

Many of the companies are still continuing with their mass layoffs as they have no choice with the fading demand.

Even the payrolls and new recruitments are suffering from the downed economy position. Stock markets have not yet recovered from their falling. People are now in the job of searching the end point of the fall.

Beyonce Likes To Be Wonder Woman

With so many super hero movies faring well at the box offices, ideas for newer movies are still evolving day-by-day.

We know how one hit of a super hero movie can change life of any one. So it is not surprising anyone liking to play role of a superhero. Well, pop star Beyonce is not strange from those who wish to see themselves casting as a super hero.

She recently said that she liked to play the role of Wonder Woman. She is excited with her idea of a black Wonder Woman. I guess it is the impact of Obama’s win over McCain. Though it would be great for her, as a fan of The Justice League, I would never like to see the fair and amazing Wonder Woman in a contradict color.

Though no one has yet made up their mind for such a movie, lets’ see if anyone dares to do their movie with Beyonce playing the lead role.

French People Spend Half of American’s Expense for Health

French people get quick and efficient medical care and costs half what Americans spend on their health care. French people take health care seriously and manage to provide health care system, which different from Americans.

In this summer, my friend delivered twins in Paris because she was French; their entire family is covered by French Social Security system. She stayed nine days in private room and cost was about $190, they treat all the people coming to emergency are treated equal and they don’t say to patients-you don’t have money or proper insurance, we can’t treat you.

Cost of medical help in United States is double than the cost of medical care in France. In US, emergency rooms are indebted to treat and at least stabilize everyone but due to the cost of medical care many American’s never visit a doctor until it’s an emergency.

In France, people visits hospitals whenever there is a problem minor or major because they can afford the treatment. French government set prices for everything, which is reasonable, so French doctors make less money when compared to American doctors. The French government also takes care about drug store; the people needn’t pay anything for the drugs.

On pre capita basis, French appends about $3,400 a year for health care and US spends almost the double of this figure but still 46 million Americans are uninsured. We can only hope that every country makes high efforts to provide efficient medical care as provided by France.
