Quartz countertops bring a stylish appeal to your kitchen with their shiny and elegant appearance. They are more popularly used these days as they are attractive, durable, affordable and need less maintenance. However, certain basic care of quartz countertops is required.

As you know, quartz countertops are non-porous because the resin materials present in them bind the spaces between the quartz materials. However, it is better to attach a sealant to avoid any damage due to spills. Basic cleaning of quartz countertops is necessary to maintain its natural sheen. A non-abrasive cleaner should be used for cleaning them. A vinegar and water solution or hot soapy solution is enough to clean quartz kitchen countertops. Any highly aggressive cleaning agents such as oven or grill cleaners and dishwasher polishing agents having higher pH levels should be avoided. After washing, ensure that the countertops are wiped with a soft sponge or washcloth.

These kitchen countertops are even resistant to scratches. Even then it is recommended to use cutting boards for slicing fruits or vegetables to ensure its structural appeal. Though the quartz kitchen countertops can withstand mild heat, they may get damaged when exposed to severe heat for a long time. It is, therefore, advised not to keep hot pots and utensils directly on their surface and hence, trivets, place mats and coasters can be used. Any burns of too much heat can damage the quartz. With this basic maintenance or care, you can retain the beauty of your quartz kitchen countertops.
